Rearranging the Empire

Hello boys, girls and everything in between. It’s me Bad jokes back at ya once again with another blog.
Today in Restoring the Rangers Empire we’re rearranging the empire. We go through the summer transfer window between season one and two. This window deserves and needs its own post as we have sold one hundred and sixty million pounds worth of players and brought in one hundred and seventeen million pounds worth of players. This is surely the maddest transfer window in Scottish football history so let’s crack on and see who has left the club.
You’re Nothing But A Load Of Leavers
The first thing that I want to say about this window is that I had no intention of having such an overhaul of the squad, but the offers we received were just too good to turn down and I didn’t want to hold players back from the opportunities they were going to get as some left us to join the biggest teams in England and one ventured over to France to join PSG. Also as this is only a short term save, I fancied the chance to spend some big money, before we move on to margate where funds are going to be extremely limited.
Wolves were the first club to get their hands on one of our players, as after a couple bids of twenty million was rejected we let him go for thirty million pounds on the sixteenth of June. Ryan was a big part of our success last season popping up with thirteen goals and ideally, I would have liked to have kept him but thirty million and the chance for kent to play in the premiership where he might get the chance to get into the England team was just too much to turn down.
Just one day later and we had another sale this time to the south coast of England, as Joe Aribo joined Brighton & Hove Albion for twenty million pounds. This is a deal I’m very happy with as Aribo only started ten times for us and whilst he was reliable and dependable when called upon I feel he can be replaced very easily.
The next one out of the Ibrox exit door, was a big loss as our left-back Borna Barisic departed to Arsenal for thirty million pounds. I honestly thought that he had scored more than twice but he certainly had a massive impact with eleven assists on route to getting an average rating of seven point five. This was certainly the deal I wanted to do the least but again it was a good opportunity for Barisic so I couldn’t stand in his way.
On the first of July, we made the sale to PSG and it’s a name you might not be expecting to be linking up with Neymar, Mbappe, Di maria et al as it’s the Swedish central defender Filip Helander who is joining PSG. We managed to get twenty-five million pounds from Paris Saint Germain. For some reason when I told Helander of the offer he said he accepted before I could get the sentence out. I’m sure it had nothing to do with preferring to live in Paris over Glasgow as who would want to do that.
Twenty-four hours later, we had another departure as our twenty-four-year-old English centre back George Edmundson joined Burnley for twenty million pounds. He only played seventeen times for us last season but when he did play he impressed as he got a very high average rating of seven point eight.
It took a whole week for our next sale to go through, as I started to think that we were done with outgoings. However, we managed to get a deal I was very happy with when we got ten million pounds from newly-promoted Brentford for our twenty-eight-year-old Jamaican striker Kemar Roofe. Even without the other sales and the money coming into the club he was never going to be in my plans for next season so to get ten million seems like a very good deal to me.
Our last major sale of the summer saw us strike gold son!! ( Can you guess who it is yet)
When we sold Connor Goldson, our twenty-eight-year-old star centre back, who had played forty games for us last season. He had been a huge part of our defensive solidarity and was right up there for consistency with Alfredo Morelos. It’s disappointing to lose him, but we got twenty-five million and fifty per cent of any profit on the next sale so its a great deal and I really hope he does well at Man City.
That concludes all our major deals for the summer but in case anyone is interested in any other deals here are all our deals for the summer which have brought in one hundred and sixty million pounds.
Welcome In New Friends
To paraphrase an absolute hero of mine, I wanted to win the league title (Again) and I wanted to do it better, so with one hundred and sixty million pounds to spend in the Scottish league, you would think that would be a simple task. So let’s have a look at the players we have brought into the club.
The first few deals came into the club before the exodus began, so I was still working on a limited budget. I still feel these players can add something to the squad even after the more expensive signings have joined the club.
The ninth of June saw three different players join the club on loans from premiership clubs. The first of which was Olexandr Zinchenko who joins from Man City on a six-month loan deal where we are paying thirty-six thousand pounds a week of his wages. I’m really happy with this deal as he is a very adequate replacement for Borna Barisic who has left the club and Zinchenko is also a very versatile player who can play almost anywhere on the pitch so he would be great in an injury crisis.
Half an hour after getting Zinchenko signed, I was back in front of another contract. This time the contract read Berge Sander Berge (Please tell me someone got that reference). Sheffield United got relegated from the Premier League so were looking to cut costs, and I just couldn’t resist the chance to sign a guy who has been very good on the last couple of FMs. Berge is going to be a great upgrade on Arfield and Aribo as the defensive midfielder in the middle of our midfield three.
At the end of a busy day, everyone wants a little treat, don’t they? Well, I got mine before I finished work for the day as all five foot six inches of Manuel Lanzini walked in through the door, to join us on a loan deal where we are paying sixty grand a month and just twenty per cent of his wages.
Now anyone who knows anything about me knows that I’m a massive West Ham fan and I have a HUGE man-crush on Lanzini. I love the way he plays football and my love for him grew even more with that worldie of a goal against Spurs a few weeks back, so when the chance to get him on loan came up I had to get him quicker then you could say restraining order!!
Our first full-on signing for cold hard cash came in the form Dominik Livakovic, a twenty-six-year-old six foot-two Croatian goalkeeper. We’ve paid thirteen million pounds, and signed him on a four year deal for thirty-five grand a week. I’m super happy with this deal, as Dominik is a top-class international, with plenty of experience, and can still develop for a few more years. He’s also a major step up on Subasic who has left the club to join Sheffield United.
The next signing was another one from West Ham United. This is a guy I was surprised that they were willing to let go, as we signed the IRL goal machine known as Michail Antonio. I think this is a great deal as he is happy to join us on a squad player contract for only fifteen grand a week. He’s going to be a great rotation option behind Morelos so if Alfredo gets injured we’ve got a decent back up who can score goals.
The next guy to sign for us was actually someone was already at club as Bogani Zungu earned himself a full transfer after being very dependable and reliable as a mezzala on the right of our midfield three. This was a bargain deal as we only paid two point nine million pounds for him thanks to the terms of the loan deal we had Zungu on.
Here we go guys, this deal is the one im most excited about, as we raided relegated leicester for our next two deals. Starting first with this one for James Maddison who we paid a whopping thirty-eight million pounds for. Were also paying one hundred thousand pounds a week which surely makes him the highest paid player in scottish football history but I have no doubts that he will be worth it and im sure hes going to dominate the SPL.
The second player to join us from Leicester city, is the twenty-five year old Turkish Center back Çağlar Söyüncü. We paid thirty three and a half million pounds for him but I still think this is a great deal as he isnt yet in his prime so he can still improve and he already has all the attributes you would want from a top class center back with good heading, marking and tackling aswell as awesome mentals with sixteen for anticipation, seventeen for bravery and sixteen for determination. I really cant wait to see him dominate attackers in the SPL this season.
The next signing was another big name in more ways then one, as we signed Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain on loan untill the end of the season. We’re only paying half of his wages per week, so i’m proper happy with this deal again. Hes another one who is very versatile, and has the experience of having won pretty much everything at club level. On a cheeky side note I did mention to alex that if his missus Perrie Edwards from Little Mix wants to come to training shes more then welcome as she would certainly glam the place up a bit.
Earlier in this post, I told you about how we sold Helander to PSG. Well he must have had some good things to say about glasgow, as our next loan signing is coming in the other direction as weve signed the twenty nine year old Pablo Sarabia. The wages of eighty-eight grand a week is a little on the high side but hes another one who really should be bossing this league and helping us walk to another SPL title.
Finally, we come to our last signing of the summer, Once again we’ve returned to what I know, as we signed the twenty-four-year-old French centre back Issa Diop from West Ham.
We’ve paid thirty million pounds for the lad, and he overtakes Maddison as the highest-paid player in the league, as he’s earning one hundred and five thousand pounds a week.
Looking at his attributes he’s got good heading and tackling attributes, but his marking needs to be worked on. He has solid mentals and nice physicals with eighteen jumping reach and sixteen for natural fitness and strength so he’s very solid already with room for improvement.
Below you can see the team that played for the last game of last season and the starting lineup for the first game of this season. (click on the images to enlarge them) Let me know what team you would prefer to have either in the comments here or on Twitter. Bear in mind that Diop joined us ten days into the new season.
